Welcome to
Protein-Touch
A collaborative project for the identification of
residues critical in protein-protein interactions
last modified: Aug 04, 2011.
Protein-protein interactions are of pivotal importance in a multiplicity of
biological processes. The knowledge of the specific regions of binding
used by proteins requires intensive studies with a variety of biochemical
and biophysical techniques. Therefore, the capacity to predict the
regions that mediate protein-protein interactions without relying on
time-consuming and expensive experiments is highly desirable.
Protein-Touch is a collaborative project based on theoretical methods,
which helps in the identification of protein residues that are important in
the formation of protein-protein complexes.
On the basis of our experience, given two or more proteins that are
known to interact physically, we are able to predict the related and
specific regions of interaction with a high rate of success. Our approach
exhibits general robustness provided that the proteins do not interact
exclusively through the mediation of short motifs.
